Q: Will Pet Watchers give my pet medication?
A: We can pill your dog or cat, or give ear or eye medication and topical ointments. However, we will not administer any injections such as insulin and suggest you board your pet at a veterinary clinic.

Q: What is bonding,and what sort of insurance does Pet Watchers carry?
A: A bond covers againist theft. We also carry liability insurance

Q: How long does the pet sitters visit last?
A: Our visit last 25 minutes unless a longer time frame is requested.

Q: Who are you pet sitters?
A: Our sitters are local residents from all walks of life. We have homemakers, people in dual careers, retirees, undergraduate and post graduate students, as well as those who are taking a break from hectic professions such as social work and law. Although the sitters are a very diverse group, they all share a common thread. They are conscientious, animals lovers and have owned and/or work with animals.

Q: What does a "consultation" consist of?
A: We come to your home to meet you and your pet. We will ask you questions about your pet's activity levels, feeding habits, what your pets like and don't like, your home needs (mail, newspaper, plants watered) as well as emergency phone numbers and contacts. At this time we will also need two sets of keys. The consultation takes approximately half an hour. If you would like to meet the sitter who will be coming into your home we can arrange this for a fee of $5.00. We encourage our clients to meet their sitters so they feel absolutely comfortable leaving their pets and home in our care.

Q: How frequently do you visit our pet?
A: We will follow the same schedule as you do with your pet regarding feeding and walking intervals. We suggest that you maintain the same schedule for your pet that you would if you were home.

Q: What is Pet Watchers cancellation policy?
A: Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 9am to 4:30pm and Friday from 9am to 1pm. We would appreciate any cancellations on those days before 10am. This allows us time to notify your sitter when they call each morning. On weekends we check our messages daily but cannot guarantee that we will be able to reach your sitter in time to cancel. We suggest that you call us as soon as you think your plans have changed and we will do our best to accommodate that change.

Q: How far in advance do I need to make reservations?
A: As far in advance as your plans allow. Unfortunately we have had to turn away last minute callers during the busy holiday weekends each year. Especially during the Thanksgiving through New Years holidays. We ask all our clients to make their reservations early. Additionally, payment for Thanksgiving arrangements are due by November 1st, and Christmas and New Years payments are due by December 1st. Advance payments allows us to secure a scheduled time for your pet.

Q: What will my sitter do if my pet becomes ill?
A: Ill animals are always our highest priority. If necessary we will take your pet to your vet and if they can not be reached we'll go to our vet or Animal 911. Our policy is not to disturb you on your vacation if it can be avoided, but we will do so in an emergency. This is why itineraries and phone numbers are required by Pet Watchers for your destination as well as any local emergency contacts.

Q: How do we get the keys back?
A: You can pick them up at our office after they are returned To Pet Watchers by your sitter, or we can mail them to you via certified mail ($5.00 charge), or we hold can hold onto them for your next trip. Key tags only have your pets name and reference number on them. Never your name or addresss.
